Media centre PRESS RELEASE issued on behalf of Scenic Blue SCHOOL CULTIVATES HOME GROWN GARDENING TALENT Schools out! But not for local landscaper Scenic Blue who commence work to complete a garden specially designed for pupils at Dosthill Primary School, at the onset of the summer holidays. It is hoped that the garden will help to inspire local kids to take an early interest in gardening and may even result in Tamworth boasting its very own budding Alan Titchmarsh or Charlie Dimmock of the future! In addition the creation of the new garden will provide a welcome breath of fresh air and a chance to escape the confines of the classroom. Maleka Bibi-Hudson, who runs Scenic Blue Tamworth joined forces with Catherine Beavon, teacher at Dosthill Primary to develop a garden ideally suited to pupils of all ages. The garden features a comfortable seating and paved area, raised beds to encourage the children to participate in planting activities and a solar powered raised water feature. The garden build is expected to be completed by the start of the Autumn term. Money raised from the schools summer fair organised by the PTA has been used to partly fund the garden project. Scenic Blue Tamworth supplied the design, labour and some materials. Local suppliers supporting the school garden initiative include Baggeridge Bricks (bricks) , Dobbies Garden World (plants) , Tippers (building materials) and Tamworth Waste Skip Hire. Commenting on the proposed garden Maleka Bibi-Hudson says we are thrilled to be involved in this project which represents a valuable learning opportunity for our local children. It is a well established fact that a range of topics and subjects can be taught through the outdoor classroom and by working with Catherine, we are confident that the new garden facility will provide excellent educational as well as undisputed play benefits to the pupils of Dosthill Primary. The garden will also help the school in its bid to secure Eco-School status. This aims to educate and encourage children to become more environmentally aware in all aspects of their lives. Dosthill Primary plans to use the raised bed area to show the food growing cycle. It is hoped the garden will become a tranquil but stimulating area within the busy world of Tamworths largest primary school. - ends - note to editors: - Scenic Blue, is the UKs only landscape gardening franchise currently operating 37 franchises For further information please contact: Carla Wessel, Scenic Blue press office Maleka Bibi-Hudson, Scenic Blue Tamworth |
