“THE CHELSEA CYCLISTS”

Creators of Chelsea Flower Show “ Marshalls ’ Sustainability Garden ” exhibit gear up for daily cycle to reduce carbon footprint

The business behind the creation of the “Marshalls’ Sustainability Garden” exhibit for this year’s Chelsea Flower Show is further emphasising its commitment to sustainability by cycling to the show ground on a daily basis in a bid to reduce their carbon footprint. The six members of the Scenic Blue build team responsible for the innovative Marshalls’ Sustainability garden, will be shunning fossil fuel guzzling transport in favour of good old fashioned (and environmentally friendly) pedal power to journey from their Battersea base to the Royal Hospital road site from next week onwards, in the run up to the world’s leading garden design exhibition (22-26 May 2007).

Having come up with the concept for a sustainable garden, designed to appeal to the growing number of “conscience consumers” in the UK who place increasing importance on issues relating to sustainability, climate change and ethical / social values, Scenic Blue – a Marshalls Specialist business - is keen to further underpin its “green” credentials, with one member of the team, Roger Smith (Scenic Blue Garden Designer) opting to cycle the full 110 miles from his home town (Worthing) to Chelsea on the first day the show officially opens to members of the public.

Commenting on the “Chelsea Cyclists” managing director Judy Behl says “as a Marshalls Specialist business we take our responsibilities for sustainability and the advocacy of ethical trading very seriously. Marshalls is the industry leader in sustainable landscapes and the company is currently running a major educational initiative to help customers and installers understand more about sustainable landscaping. We therefore felt that it important to show our over-riding support and commitment to the preservation of our natural environment – and to a sustainable style of living”.
