SCENIC BLUE GRABS GOLD AT CHELSEA FLOWER SHOW

with a garden “where designer looks converge with sound environmental practice and responsible sun protection”

Itâs official! - world class garden design is now on your doorstep as news hotfoot from this yearâs Chelsea Flower Show announces that local based landscaping business Scenic Blue has scooped the ultimate accolade ö an RHS Gold medal - with its ãAnnaâs Sanctuary in the Shadeä exhibit. Ê The companyâs entry in the chic garden category represents an imaginative interpretation of the ultimate shaded outdoor room , which is fittingly sponsored by Thomas Sanderson, the UKâs leading supplier of patio awnings. Ê The garden incorporates an ingenious rain water collection system ö an on-trend and extremely relevant feature given the current hosepipe ban restriction in some parts of the UK.

Judy Behl from Scenic Blue UK, which is headquartered in Faversham, Kent comments ãthe Chelsea Flower Show represents the worldâs showcase for excellence in garden design so weâre thrilled to have been awarded a prestigious RHS Gold Medal at this yearâs event. Ê This award under pins the companyâs ability to keep abreast of current consumer trends and translate them into visionary, innovative garden designs accessible to the general publicä

About the winning garden

ãAnnaâs Sanctuary in the Shadeä takes its inspiration from the growing public concern for safety in the sun and the mounting environmental issues associated with climate control and diminishing water supplies. Ê The compact space successfully combines sophisticated designer looks with a range of highly innovative, practical features. Ê Central to the design is the striking shade inducing sail device resembling a flower, which houses the unique eco-friendly water capture feature, to provide a useful irrigation resource for the garden. Ê Dramatic living art panels of vertical planting provide a thought provoking focal point whilst the modern coloured Perspex seat offers a relaxing, shady resting place adjacent to a circular rill water feature. Ê Clever lighting and visionary planting work in harmony to create a backdrop of strong architectural shapes boasting changing textures and a riot of colour ranging from a palette of pale subtle pinks.

The garden is owned by a fictional character ãAnnaä, who is a smart single working woman now residing in the city. Ê This contemporary outdoor space represents Annaâs sanctuary, a place where she can escape the stresses and strains of her demanding job and somewhere that she can rekindle her love of plants. Ê A former avid sun worshipper, these days Anna is far too concerned about the potential dangers of excessive sun exposure to put her health at risk.

About the gardenâs sponsor

As the UKâs leading supplier of patio awnings, conservatory blinds and interior window shutters, Thomas Sanderson is the natural sponsor of the Scenic Blue garden as both companies share the same vision of transforming the garden into an all year round outdoor room. All Thomas Sanderson products are handcrafted and individually made-to-measure, and are also available in a wide choice of colours to complement any home or garden.   ÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊ

Scenic Blue Kent wins Silver Gilt

Scenic Blue Kent was also responsible for the build of an additional award winning garden at this yearâs Chelsea Flower Show. Ê ãThe Ravine Garden ö Gift of the Glacierä show garden, was sponsored by The Lake Forest Garden Club from Chicago (founding member of the Garden Club of America) who contracted Scenic Blue Kent to undertake the build of this dramatic exhibit. Ê The judges awarded the show garden an RHS Silver Gilt medal.
